Projects

On this page I feature data projects that don't take article form. These are usually case studies seeking to solve specific problems. Most are independent, but some are from my consulting work when I am allowed to release them.

The Chuck Project

In the Chuck Project, I tried to tackle a classic analytics question: how do we encourage players to get lots of shots without taking bad shots? Using SkillCorner data, I examined what makes a bad shot, and partially changed my mind on shooting from range in the process.

J League Market Valuation Study

Top J League players are consistently being bought by clubs in Belgium and the Netherlands for low fees and nearly instantly flipped for much higher prices. Many involved in the Japanese game believe that J League teams should hold players for longer in order to sell at these higher prices and avoid arbitrage. I suggest a different solution.

Mock Recruitment Flow

As my first foray into the world of soccer data, and in preparation for the 2026 ASI Summit in Houston, I made a mock recruitment flow using SkillCorner data. This was an early project and does not reflect my current process, but is still quality work.
